As part of a balanced lifestyle I do my best to stay active as much as I can here in Kelowna. On the few days I do take off, you’ll probably see me at the gym, golfing a course here and there, or, more likely, in the hot room at Bikram Yoga Kelowna. I love sweating it out with my friends (and the studio’s owners) Jjanet and Aiden.

Bikram Yoga has really caught on here in the Okanagan, not to mention around the world. Thousands of students become teachers each year through a rigorous ten week training program where they participate in two classes a day, each day. Their discipline and versatility is evident when you take their classes. I love being in an energized room and being challenged to keep my focus strong and go further. The heat & humidity, combined with a full range of postures, has done a lot to keep me fit, active, and feeling vital. The studio is very centrally located in the downtown core at 555 Lawrence Avenue.

Jjanet, Aiden, and their staff of wonderful teachers have been great mentors to me, and I’m certain they can be the same for you. For more information on their studio, check out their website here.

For me, like many of you, I’m sure; trying to fit time into a busy work schedule for some lunch is a difficult on a good day. I’m very fortunate to have an office downtown that gives me access to a lot of great little eateries.

One such place is Dunn Enzies Pizza Co located at 1559 Ellis Street. Karen, Deb, and Robert have figured out the secret to making delicious pizza pies and they have never let me down. Having been open for just over a year, Dunn Enzies Pizza Co has already gotten a pretty great following and with good reason! Big thanks to the Dunn Enzies crew for keeping me well fed, whether it’s on a busy day, or late at night when I’m leaving the pub.

Sure that sounds great….but if you like your fancy coffee or you don’t like bag lunches- treat yourself. You work hard and then you deprive yourself of the things you like? What’s the point in scrimping in order to save a few bucks? Buy the things you like/deserve and look for places to save on basic services such as your cell phone, your TV package or maybe just shop a little smarter and pay attention to your grocery fliers. If you like Mini-Wheats, they’re 1/2 price this week at Safeway………

I first went there 3 days ago and I’ve been there twice since! The coffee is the best you’ll find, and the latte is so good that it doesn’t even need sugar. Gio Bean is located at 1340 Water Street, just across from the Kelowna Law Courts. Be sure to check it out! My last blog post was about how lame it is to say no to the things you like- in order to save a few bucks……the post was called “The Latte Factor = Boring”. After tasting the coffee at Gio Bean, you can be sure I’m sticking to my philosophy of spending money/ treating myself to the things I like.
